Music and Movement for Young Children and Newborns

... and the adults who love them.

Twelve children and their parents or caregivers (nanny, babysitter, grandparent) meet weekly for 45 minutes to experience new songs, chants, movement activities, and instrumental jam sessions. Both children and adults participate - regardless of musical ability! - in the circle, led by a teacher who shows them how to play musically and helps the adults understand the importance of relaxing and enjoying the activities with their children. Each semester, families receive a new CD set of original compositions and traditional songs performed by outstanding singers and instrumentalists, along with a songbook full of pictures and activities to help the whole family to learn and enjoy the songs at home.

Music Together® is an internationally recognized music and movement approach to early childhood music development for infant, toddler and kindergarten children and their parents, teachers and other primary caregivers. Originally offered to the public in 1987 in Princeton, New Jersey, USA, it pioneered the concept of a researched-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult involvement. Rather than emphasizing traditional music performances, families are encouraged to participate in spontaneous musical activity occurring within the context of daily life. All children are musical and every child needs a stimulating, supportive music environment to achieve basic competence in the wonderful human capacity for music making.
